About Moieciu Commune
The Bran area is divided into three administrative communes: Bran, Moieciu, and Fundata.
Moieciu Commune, in its current structure, was established in 1968 during the last administrative reform and comprises six villages:
- Moieciu de Sus;
- Cheia;
- Moieciu de Jos (the administrative center);
- Drumul Carului;
- Peștera;
- Măgura.
Covering 9,491 hectares at altitudes between 800 and 1,200 meters, Moieciu includes a 5,482-hectare forested area.
Due to the terrain, agriculture was not collectivized during the communist period, allowing locals to preserve their traditional households and customs. Before 1989, the Bran area was relatively prosperous compared to other parts of the country, and it later capitalized on its tourism potential.
